LWC - Champagne

LORING WINE COMPANY
Tasty Champagne

I probably drink more champagne than I do Pinot Noir. And if you don't mind, I'll just use the term "champagne" to cover all sparkling wine. Yes, I do know the difference, but it's soooooo much easier to type champagne than "sparkling wine". Thank you for your understanding. Beside it being great by itself, champagne is just about the best food wine there is, since it goes with just about everything. In fact, one of my favorite food and wine pairings is champagne and BBQ'd ribs and chicken. The Sunday "Champagne BBQ" has been a Loring family tradition for over 20 years!

Recommendations
The following list is by know means exhaustive. I like a whole lot of different sparklers, but these happen to be some of my favorites that you may not have heard about. And just so you know, and to help you decide whether or not to try the wines listed, I'm partial to lighter style champagnes.

Laurent-Perrier
I really like these wines! Especially the Cuvée Grand Siècle.

Billecart-Salmon
I think this is a real "sleeper" in French Champagne. A Small house that makes FANTASTIC wines. Everything they make is good, but look for the Non-Vintage Brut Rose.

Pommery
Look for the Cuvee Louise.

Domaine Carneros
Taittinger's California "branch". Their Brut is an exceptional value, and I think that their "Le Reve" (Vintage Brut Blanc de Blancs) is the BEST sparkling wine made outside of Champagne.

S. Anderson
A small, family run winery in Yountville that consistantly makes very tasty sparkling wine. This is a MUST stop on your vacation in Napa - but be sure to call ahead so that you can make one of their cave tours. Trust me... this will be a highlight of your trip.

So get out there and drink more champagne! I don't remember who said the following, but I echo his sentiment...
I'd hate to say on my death bed that I wish I'd drank more Champagne!
